====== Exit Strategy ====== Moving house is a bitch of a task at the best of times, so when your estate agent's answer to a no-offer-in-4-months property is "lower the price", it's time to do what any self-respecting intelligentsia would do: learn how to do the job you've employed someone else to do, so you can see how well they're doing it. This is where we started: {{gallery>:blog:2010:exit_strategy?1691*}} A lot of polyfila and white paint later, we get these: {{gallery>:blog:2010:exit_strategy?0*-*}} A little bit of staging goes a long way. The bedroom is easily the biggest change, but every room has undergone quite an improvement just for the pictures. The pictures of course don't show even half the work that's gone into to painting the kitchen and bathroom white, rebuilding the bath surround, boxing the pipework and all the other little jobs that I'm hoping will entice more people from the websites and literature through the door. What's important to note here is that the top row is done by an estate agent, and the bottom row done by me. If all you do is sell houses, and you're paid to sell houses, then surely you understand how to sell houses? Turns out that normal people can substitute 2 tablespoons of intelligence for "professional" experience and get comparable results, but that's a rant for another day.
